A while ago I wrote an article about #Web3, #NFTs, etc. in which I basically called it all "useless marketing garbage", but after further thought, I would like to rephrase what I said a bit. For the most part, NFTs and Web3 are marketing gimmicks designed to get you to buy into something, but the idea of NFTs isn't ridiculous, just the current implementation of "owning an image" or something similar. What NFTs really do is confirm ownership in a digital asset in a decentralized way. This means instead of a single third-party verifying the ownership of something, it would be the blockchain doing so.
This, in my opinion, is an AWESOME technology, but not for something like "owning an image", that's just marketing garbage. The idea of NFTs letting you "own" art and be worth something is stupid. [2/2]
